Pumpkin Patch Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) rescue based in Los Angeles, CA. Our purpose is the rescue, medical rehabilitation, and adoption of special needs animals. These animals might suffer from infections or disease, need correction from birth defects or surgical intervention for injuries. Though our focus is animals with extra needs, we also take in a steady number of “typical” animals. In addition we try to help other volunteers in our field, especially TNR advocates, with spay/neuter, medical emergency, and supply funding when able.

The Rescue is named after our sweet, seven-year old boy, Pumpkin! He was our first special needs baby and really opened our eyes and hearts as to the extreme need for fosters and rescues willing to take in these typically euthanized animals. He has been a constant light in our lives as well as the lives of our longer term fosters who have benefitted from his love.

Mel

Hi! I’m Mel, I live in Los Angeles and work remotely from home in TV production. I’m married to a comedian who travels a lot. I’m a homebody but take every opportunity (fosters permitting) to get out of LA and into nature, with National Parks being my favorite destinations.

I have always loved all animals, from snakes to horses, but have found cats best suit my life and capture my heart. They are also the least funded, most abused, and most euthanized animal in Los Angeles.

My favorite things: Animals, National Parks, Travel, History, Crochet, Forests, Disneyland, Cocktails, Hiking, Books, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Medieval Europe.

The happiness of the animals in our care is our top concern. We have an adoption process that we believe allows us to make the best animal and home matches. We want the adoption to be a complete success, with both animal and adopter being very happy. We have so far been very fortunate and never had an animal returned.
